This trek to the internationally acclaimed Valley Of Flowers is a must do for all flora lovers and for people who love mountains. This UNESCO world heritage site was discovered by the legendry British mountaineer and author Frank S Smythe on his way back from a successful climb to Mt. Kamet way back in 1931. This national park is situated in the upper expansions of Bhyundar Valley in the interior regions of Garhwal Himalayas. Spread over an area of 87.5 sq. kms., the valley is at an altitude of 3250m and above and plays home to more than 300 species of alpine flowers. Big attractions here are the Bhramkamal, Cobra Lilly & Blue Poppy flowers. The big mountains of Ratban Parvat and Nar Parvat and several waterfalls flowing down the surrounding ranges provides just the right backdrop to this amazing piece of nature's creation. Another big attraction for trekkers in this region is the sacred Sikh shrine of Hem Kund Sahib, situated by the banks of a high altitude lake and with flowers all around it's quite a compelling sight. This climb to the Sikh shrine is a steep one but one is well rewarded on reaching the lake. hot glass of tea here is something you will cherish for quite some time. We finish the first leg of our trek and head to the beautiful and spiritual temple town of Badrinath. After spending a night here you start on a long drive back to Rishikes/Haridwar to catch the train for Delhi.
This is truly a wonderful trek but be prepared to walk with wet boots on as one will surely encounter some bit of rain along the trek. This trek is undertaken in the monsoon months as blossoming reaches its peak around this time.
